Effect of elevated carbon dioxide on growth and development of Santalum album L. seedlings inoculated with plant growth promoting microorganisms in Open Top Chambers

Rising carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in atmosphere have a significant impact on plant growth and metabolism. Many promoting microbes play an important role maintaining vitality by facilitating nutrient translocation under adverse conditions. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of elevated CO2 parameters (height seedlings, increment height, collar diameter number leaves) sandalwood (Santalum album L.) seedlings inoculated with beneficial microorganisms (Pseudomonas putida, Bacillus subtilis Trichoderma harzianum) Open Top Chambers (OTCs). Sandalwood P. B. subtilis, T. harzianum were grown OTCs at 600 ppm, 800ppm, 1000ppm 1200ppm CO2. As compared non-inoculated (untreated/control) plants, one shows high development rate but non- plants not able handle stress higher/elevated concentration (1000 & 1200ppm) ultimately died after 60 days. putida showed all taken up 1000 ppm followed subtilis. It is also observed that treatment could withstand beyond 1200 whereas found be effective even Through these experiments different CO2, we can predict possibility climate change global warming effect vis-a-vis their growth, yield crops. Hence, other including mycorrhizal fungi analyzed for future research bio-prospect experimentation.
